Do You Need Dental Crowns or Dental Bridges?
Crowns and bridges aren’t for every smile. But, our clients who do receive these treatments love the ease of the process and the lasting comfort in their smiles. If you have just one decaying or damaged tooth, you could be a candidate for a dental crown. For this procedure, we would remove the decaying tissue and place a crown on top of your tooth. If you need a tooth pulled, on the other hand, you could get a dental implant with a dental crown placed on top.
However, if you have any missing teeth or severely decaying teeth, dental bridges could be your solution. With decaying teeth, we would first decide whether you are a candidate for extraction. Then, we would see if dental bridges fit your smile. Since we secure dental bridges on either side with dental crowns, they are a permanent fixture. Oftentimes, our patients love the fact that they don’t have to remove dental bridges like they do with dentures.
Same-Day Dental Crowns and Bridges
Whether you need just one crown or a set of dental bridges, your restorative dentist in Marietta will make your smile whole again. Better yet, he can place your crown or bridge in just one visit. With CEREC technology, Dr. Sprouse will do the whole procedure in-house. That means he will take an impression of your bite, craft a custom shape for your new tooth, mold the crown or bridge, and place it all in one day.
The Dental Bridge Process
After our first consultation, we will decide the best treatment method for your smile. If you and Dr. Sprouse choose a dental bridge, then you’re already halfway to the smile of your dreams. First, your restorative dentist will reduce the size of your teeth on either end of the gap in your smile. This allows us to place crowns on top of the healthy teeth.
Next, we will craft a bridge a customized tooth or set of teeth to match your bite. After we secure the dental bridge in place, we will ensure that your new bridge is a good fit. At this point, you’ll have a chance to tell us whether or not your new teeth are comfortable. Of course, we are always available for follow-up appointments as well. If your dental bridge ever becomes uncomfortable, come see us and we will make the proper adjustments.
The Lifespan of Crowns and Bridges
If you practice good oral hygiene, dental crowns and bridges will last a lifetime. Good oral hygiene includes brushing twice a day and flossing daily. When you eat extra chewy or sugary foods, it doesn’t hurt to brush more often. Additionally, you should visit your general dentist at least once every six months.
If you ever have concerns about your oral hygiene routine, talk to us. We would love to give you some tips on improving your oral health.
